I had a similar corkscrew for a long time. It was plastic, and it eventually broke. I tried the fancy ones, electric ones etc. Many of them would not work well on some bottle types and broke corks. So, finally I gave up and got a replacement that looked much like the original. This one is metal, so hopefully it will last for a while. If you have not used one before, look at the instructions. Once you get used to it, this will become your go-to corkscrew because it never fails to open a bottle without damaging the cork. In fact, you can easily re-cork the bottle if desired
